International Mobility World Conference 2026
Host: Blind People’s Association (India) is one the most leading disability development organizations in India. It is known for promoting a variety of activities and programs on comprehensive development of persons visual impairment and other disabilities www.bpaindia.org. It also promoted the concept of community-based rehabilitation which has a strong component on providing orientation & mobility training to people with visual impairment and deafblindness. It successfully hosted the World Conference sponsored by the International Council for the Education of People with Visual Impairment (ICEVI) during 14-17 November 2024 at Ahmedabad www.icevi2024wc.org
The vision of the IMC is to further the level of expertise for mobility instructors through an international exchange of ideas and information. In pursuit of this vision, the scope of the conference will encompass the global community addressing issues affecting the mobility of those with visual impairment throughout the world. This will include mobility practitioners (teachers, O&M Instructors and Guide Dog Instructors), service users, researchers and other workers or professionals from any discipline directly or indirectly involved in mobility issues, such as traffic engineers, accessibility advisors, and product developers.
Venue: IMC19 will be held in Gujarat, Ahmedabad, India. Conference dates are November 16-19, 2026. Ahmedabad, in western India, is the largest city in the state of Gujarat. The Sabarmati River runs through its center. On the western bank is the Gandhi Ashram at Sabarmati, which displays the spiritual leader’s living quarters and artifacts. Across the river, the Calico Museum of Textiles, once a cloth merchant’s mansion, has a significant collection of antique and modern fabrics. Gujarat is one of the most progressive States in India and it known for world’s tallest Statue of Unity, Gir Lion Sanctuary and famous tourist destination Kutch.
